Hello, I'm Sophie
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Berlin, Germany.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What started as a short-term assignment gradually opened a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Germany wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more intricate than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Orbit Frost Beta
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real-life experiences in Germany.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site does include:
- Hands-on insights from life in Germany
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when real changes occur
This site does not include:
- An official tourism resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Germany continues, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we come across.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
